Description
Is sorry he was so unsuccessful with his negroes; the family has suffered much this hard winter; nevertheless he may have the negroes another year; asks him to bring ten or twelve hundred pounds weight of bacon or pickled pork and thirty or forty bushels of corn; hopes John will visit them soon. A postscript of Jan. 29, speaks of a report that his brother Billy was dangerously wounded in the shoulder in a duel at Augusta; Mr. Whitefield, however, informs him that he is well and on his way to Savannah where he has been elected vendue master; would that young men were not so impetuous.
