Moderator: Zita Allen. Panelists: Carmen de Lavallade, Ves Harper, Dorene Richardson, Ella Thompson Moore, and Liz Williamson. Panelists recall their first contacts with Alvin Ailey and their experiences in working with him on the choreography for Revelations and Blues suite. -- Reel 2: Panel I, continued. Panelists trace the evolution of Revelations over the years and share their perceptions of Ailey as an artist and an individual. -- Panel II: The survival of Revelations. Moderator: Sally R. Sommer. Panelists: Roger Bellamy, Masazumi Chaya, Hope Clarke, Linda Kent, Sylvia Waters, Dudley Williams, and Donna Wood Sanders. Later productions of Revelations, and the transmission of its choreography from dancer to dancer are discussed. -- Reel 3: Panel II, continued. Panelists recall memorable performances of Revelations in the U.S. and abroad.

Venue: Videotaped by Character Generators/Video for the Exhibition Program of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts and for Dance Theater Foundation at the Bruno Walter Auditorium, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, New York, on May 11, 1992, with the assistance of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and New York State Council on the Arts. A symposium of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts and Dance Theater Foundation in conjunction with the exhibition Body and soul: the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
