Description
A documentary about the life and work of modern dancer/choreographer Erika Thimey, from her beginnings in Germany as a student of Wigman and Hanya Holm, her American tours with Jan Veen, and her work in Washington, D.C. Miss Thimey talks about her pioneering work in liturgical dance, her first experiments in dance for children's audiences, and her continuing interest in the humanitarian aspects of dance. The tape includes excerpts from her works A day for dancing (music: Lloyd Pfautsch; performed by dancers of the Oakland United Presbyterian Church, Laurel, Md.); Galoob and Galick, a dance for children; and A fear not of one, to a text from T.S. Eliot's Murder in the cathedral (music: E. Lohoefer; performed by members of the Washington Dance Theatre).
