Content: Individual borne in palanquin (presumably the "Admiral" of the image title) is probably Admiral Edward Hobart Seymour, leader of an unsuccessful expedition to relieve the besieged foreign embassies in Beijing during the Boxer Rebellion. His escort (men in straw hats with ribbons) is a British Naval Brigade, Royal Navy sailors detailed in special situations to temporarily fight ashore.
