Sound quality is good. The recording is marred by continual extraneous noise and slight distortion, but the speakers' voices are loud and clear.
Description
Interview with Ruth Page conducted by Marian Horosko, at the Russian Tea Room in New York (N.Y.), for broadcast on August 31, 1969 on the series, World of Dance, on radio station WNYC-FM, New York, Streaming file (approximately 11 minutes). Ruth Page speaks with Marian Horosko, as host, on the radio program World of Dance, about the Chicago Opera Ballet including its regular tours to New York City; the dancers, including Rudolf Nureyev's guest appearances; more on touring; performing in Chicago; the size and composition of the company including the difficulty of finding men for the corps de ballet; her preference for dancers who have danced in New York; her own background; the company's repertoire, in particular, ballets based on operas; the valuable training provided by dancing in operas; modern ballets.
