Description
Relief shown by hachures. In upper right corner: S. Ex. Doc. no. 34, 1st Ses., 31st Con. Map depicts "Achilld's" or Argüello's rancho, Arroyo de Tia Juana, Camp Riley, Salazar's Camp, and other military camps. Also "Road from San Diego to Lower California ... followed by United States Commissioner to Serro de los Pinos, August 1849." Text between 2 author statements naming Andrew B. Gray: Agreeably to the decision of the Joint Commission of July 9th, 1849, and in conformity with the 5th article of the treaty dated at the city of Guadalupe Hidalgo, February 2nd, 1848. "Gray arrived in San Diego on June 1, 1849, as a civilian member of the U.S. Commission for Running the Boundary between the United States and the Republic of Mexico ... This official map shows the southern tip of the Bay as it related to the initial point of the new international boundary on the Pacific and the area of the Commission's operations"--Harlow.
