Notes recorded by Walter Terry in 1974 in New York City regarding performances he saw by the following companies: Martha Graham Dance Company; National Ballet (Washington, D.C.); Pennsylvania Ballet; Boston Ballet; Hartford Ballet; National Ballet of Canada; the Royal Ballet; and the Feld Ballet including his comments on dancers he saw, in particular Rudolf Nureyev and Karen Kain. Streaming audio file 1 (approximately 31 minutes). Walter Terry speaks about recent performances he saw by the Martha Graham Dance Company, including Graham's works Appalachian spring, Embattled garden, Clytemnestra, Chronique (a reworking of Mendicants of evening), and Holy jungle; performances by the National Ballet (Washington, D.C.), including Valerie Bettis' Streetcar named Desire; his evaluation of the company; his evaluation of the Pennsylvania Ballet and its repertoire; the Boston Ballet and its repertoire; the Hartford Ballet; the National Ballet of Canada including his admiration for Karen Kain; Rudolf Nureyev's performances with the company including in John Neumaier's Don Juan and in Giselle; the Royal Ballet's performance of [Kenneth MacMillan's] Manon [ends abruptly but continues on streaming audio file 2].
