Description
Moderator Joanne Robinson Hill begins by discussing the history of Merce Cunningham Dance Company performances and discussions at the Joyce, then asks Merce Cunningham Dance Foundation executive director Trevor Carlson to discuss the company's final Legacy Tour, which extended throughout 2011, and also discusses the last few weeks of Cunningham's life. MCDF co-choreographer Robert Swinston and Carlson discuss the choice and reconstruction of the repertory pieces for the tour and the selection of performance venues (4:40). Dance décor recreationist Davison Scandrett, Swinston, and dancers Rashaun Mitchell and Andrea Weber talk about the revival of the piece Antic Meet (7:42). Carlson discusses the outlines of the Cunningham Legacy Plan and the reasons for the disbanding of the MCDC. (16:15).
