Content: Recorded at New York State Theater, New York, on June 22, 1979. Onstage rehearsal in practice clothes.
Creation/Production Credits: Choreography: Jerome Robbins. Music: Frédéric Chopin.
Performers: Danced by members of the New York City Ballet: Heather Watts and Sean Lavery, Merrill Ashley and Peter Martins, and Stephanie Saland and Richard Hoskinson. The fourth section of the ballet (Nocturne, Op. 9, no. 2), for all three couples, is danced twice, followed by a repetition of the third duet (Saland and Hoskinson).
Funding: Preservation of this video was supported by a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.
