Notes
Content: This event initiated cross-pollination between New York Fluxus and California psychedelia. Fluxus was an international community of avant-garde artists, which included composers, designers, and architects, economists, mathematicians, ballet dancers, and chefs; among them were Yoko Ono and George Brecht. Fluxfest performers included the San Francisco Mime Troupe, some of whose members helped form the Diggers. Quicksilver Messenger Service was an American psychedelic rock band. The evening also included a showing of underground films. The art-nouveau style poster is by Ida Griffin, the wife of Richard Alden Rick Griffin (1944 1991), who designed some of the Grateful Deads (San Francisco rock group) most famous posters. The printer, Berkeley-Bonaparte, was the distribution agency that Rick Griffin founded in 1967 with other psychedelic artists.
