Abstract

Part 1 (00-35:58 minutes). Leida Snow interviews the founder and artistic director of the Big Apple Circus, Paul Binder. He speaks about his family, his educational and professional background, and his own way from street juggler to artistic director of the circus. He discusses his experience working with his ring companion, Michael Christensen, and with his wife of that time, Swedish equestrienne Katja Schumann, among others. Part 1 (35:58-62 minutes). Part of WQXR musical radio program hosted by Leida Snow. Brief excerpt from the Symphony No. 3 in D major, Op. 29, Polish / Tchaikovsky (Chicago Symphony Orchestra; Claudio Abbado, conductor) (36:12-37:10 minutes) -- Quintet for guitar and string quartet no. 6 in G / Luigi Boccherini (Richard Savino, guitar; The Artaria Quartet: Elizabeth Blumenstock, Katherine Kyme, Anthony Martin and Elisabeth Le Guin) (43:59-62:00 minutes). The program also includes various radio commercials, weather forecast and theatrical announcements. Part 2. Part of WQXR musical radio program hosted by Leida Snow, probably continuation of Part 1 (35:58-62 minutes).
