Biographical/historical: Les Danseuses viennoises was a troupe of child performers known for their precision dancing, organized by Josephine Weiss, ballet mistress at the Josephstadt Theatre in Vienna. The troupe, then composed of thirty-six little girls, made its debut at the Paris Opéra in 1845. They enjoyed great popularity, and toured in Europe, the United States, and Canada.
