Soundtrack of the 1973 documentary on the 25th annual American Dance Festival held in 1972 at Connecticut College, New London, Connecticut, entitled Festival of the dance: Glimpses through time of America's own art form (directed by Ted Steeg) cataloged at the Library under the call number *MGZIDF 6408. The soundtrack, with voiced-over commentary by Marvin Silbersher, includes excerpts of auditions for the Festival, remarks by Charles Weidman, José Limón, Charles Reinhart, and Rudy Perez, a brief sketch of the history of modern dance, and excerpts from various dances. Streaming audio file (approximately 58 minutes). Soundtrack of the 1973 documentary on the 25th annual American Dance Festival held in 1972 at Connecticut College, New London, Connecticut entitled: Festival of the dance: Glimpses through time of America's own art form (directed by Ted Steeg). The recording includes excerpts of auditions for a new repertory company (American Dance Festival Repertory Company) sponsored by Connecticut College to perform reconstructions of early modern dance works at the Festival; excerpts of various dances performed at the first and second opening nights; and remarks by Charles Weidman, José Limón, Charles Reinhart, and Rudy Perez. Throughout the recording Marvin Silbersher provides voiced-over commentary including an outline of the history of modern dance in the United States, the audition process, and the choreographers and works featured at the 1972 Festival.
