Content: The General Government was the German-occupied central portion of Poland. Gorals, meaning "highlanders" in Polish, are a distinctive ethnic group living in Poland and neighboring countries. They were considered sufficiently Germanic by Nazi "racial science" to be singled out for better treatment than ordinary Slavic Poles.
