Bibliographic History: Balanchine's choreography for Tchaikovsky’s Second Piano Concerto was premiered by the American Ballet Caravan in May 1941 as "Ballet Imperial". The work was revived in 1964 by New York City Ballet, still as "Ballet Imperial", then in 1973, without decor, as "Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 2".
