Content: Odysseus enjoys the enchanting song of the sirens, but resists their fatal lure by filling his crew's ears with wax and lashing himself to the mast of their ship. As a result, one of the bird-shaped beings casts herself from her perch in despair. Attic red-figure stamnos, ca. 5th century B.C.E. Cf. image ID 1621549.
