Sound quality is good overall. The recording is marred by occasional extraneous noise and short gaps, the latter of which are numerous in the interview with Gerda Karstens.

Interviews with Peter Schaufuss, Henning Kronstam, Kirsten Ralov and Gerda Karstens, conducted by Walter Terry in New York City, Copenhagen and Gentofte, Denmark, respectively, circa 1979, as part of the research for Walter Terry's book, The King's ballet master: a biography of Denmark's August Bournonville (New York: Dodd, Mead Co., 1979). Streaming audio file 1 (approximately 48 minutes). Peter Schaufuss speaks with Walter Terry about how his training, in Bournonville technique, has helped him in dancing George Balanchine's choreography; guest appearances as an opportunity to dance in Bournonville ballets; switching styles; Bournonville ballets when performed by companies not trained in the Bournonville style including changes made in the choreography; Bournonville dancing as both a style and a technique; use of the arms and upper body in Bournonville technique; his Bournonville roles including James in La sylphide and Gennaro in Napoli; preparing for the role of Gennaro [the interview with Schaufass ends at approximately 28:06 minutes followed immediately by; the interview with Henning Kronstam]. Henning Kronstan, newly-appointed director of the Royal Danish Ballet [Kongelige Danske ballet], speaks with Walter Terry about his early training and the curriculum for the Royal Danish Ballet school; Bournonville ballets he is re-setting for the centenary of Bournonville's death; various aspects of reconstructing Bournonville's ballets including the question of authenticity; the company's repertory [ends abruptly but continues on streaming audio file 2]. Henning Kronstam speaks with Walter Terry about the Royal Danish Ballet's repertoire including projects for developing new works and giving lecture-demonstrations in Danish schools [interview with Kronstam ends at approximately 8:57 minutes followed immediately by the interview with Kirsten Ralov]. Kirsten Ralov speak with Walter Terry about the changes over the years in the ballet Napoli; Hans Beck and his understanding of Bournonville technique; changes in the dancers' performance attitudes and technique; anecdotes about Hans Beck; turns and Bournonville's choreography; [the interview with Ralov ends at approximately 29:00, and is followed shortly by the interview with Gerda Karstens]. Gerda Karstens, with Ralov acting as interpreter, speaks with Walter Terry about the role of Madge [in La sylphide]; Karstens as the company's first teacher of mime; her teaching methods; her own mime technique.
