Description
Margaret Whiting a singer of popular music, speaks about her childhood and her deceased father, Richard Whiting, a composer of popular songs; how usually songwriters began their career; the Jerome H. Remick Music Company in Detroit; story around the war song "Till we meet again" that was a big hit; her father's admiration of George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern; his collaboration and friendship with Gus Kahn, Johnny Mercer, and Leo Robin; his popular songs (One hour with you, Breezing along with the breeze, Louise, My ideal); and her vocal partnership with Johnny Mercer. Whiting discusses contemporary music which she admires; shares her memories about her father who died when she was only 12, and recounts stories about songwriters such as Yip Harburg, Harold Arlen, Harry Warren, Dorothy Fields, and others.
