Abstract

David Berger interviews German flutist and conductor Kurt Redel (Germany Today, program no. 932), who discusses his musical and teaching career. He talks about two different aspects of his musical career, as a flutist, and as a conductor of Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra (Munich), which he founded in 1953, and which recently celebrated it's 25th anniversary. He also speaks about his teaching career at Salzburg Mozarteum (1939/41, where he was awarded a professorship), and at the Northwest German Music Academy in Detmold (between 1946 and 1953-56). Includes J.S. Bach's Toccata and fugue in D minor, performed by Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, arranged and conducted by Kurt Redel.
