Elinor Rogosin interviews the senior director of marketing affairs of TWA [Trans World Airline], identified as "Mr. Fegine" [phonetic spelling], and Sherwin M. Goldman, President of Ballet Theatre Foundation, about the financial aspects of American Ballet Theatre, in New York City, in 1971. The interviews were probably conducted for broadcast on WBAI radio, on its program Dance focus. Streaming file (approximately 22 minutes). Elinor Rogosin introduces her guests, the senior director of marketing affairs of TWA [Trans World Airline], identified as "Mr. Fegine" [phonetic spelling], and Sherwin M. Goldman, President of Ballet Theatre Foundation; Mr. Fegine speaks about TWA's financial support of American Ballet Theatre, in particular in connection with the company's European tour; Goldman speaks about the costs of running American Ballet Theatre; the transition from a touring company to a company with longer residencies; the high costs of production relative to that of the dancers' salaries and benefits; raising money from private and public sources; Mr. Fegine speaks about TWA's support of the performing arts including its role in showing a positive image of the United States overseas; Goldman speaks about the lack of corporate support generally for the arts and the difficulty of finding a stable source of support for the company; Mr. Fegine speaks about the benefits to TWA emanating from its support of American Ballet Theatre; Goldman comments on his remarks.
