Creation/Production Credits: Souvenir program for the stage production of Ben-Hur, dramatised by William Young, staged by Ben Teal, vocal and instrumental music composed by Edgar Stillman Kelley, and business direction by Joseph Brooks.
Biographical/Historical: The stage production opened Nov. 29, 1899 at the Broadway Theatre, New York, N.Y. Other New York productions include one at the New Amsterdam Theatre, Dec. 1911, and another at the Manhattan Opera House, Nov. 1916. Film adaptations include the 1925 version with Ramon Navarro, May McAvoy, Betty Bronson, and Francis X. Bushman, and another in 1959 with Charlton Heston, Jack Hawkins, Stephen Boyd, and Martha Scott.
