Abstract

A broadcast of a 1972 performance of "Don Quixote" at Tōkyō Bunka Kaikan by Mikhail Baryshnikov, Gabriėla Komleva, and the Kirov Ballet. The score is conducted by Viktor Shirokov with the Tokyo Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. Commentary and post-performace analysis by Taneo Ishida and Toshiyuki Kashima includes a discussion on the quality of Soviet ballet and the appeal of this work, as well as praise for Baryshnikov's perfornance.
