Abstract

Mikhail Baryshnikov dances in "Single Duet". While the original work was a duet for Baryshnikov and choreographer Deborah Hay, all the versions here are performed solo. There are four separate performances and a dress rehearsal of the piece, recorded November 14 though 19, 2000. Most include Hay's interview from "Past Forward", shot by Charles Atlas; all are recorded from the wings of the stage. During one performance, Baryshnikov jokes with the audience, telling them he's checking to see who left during intermission. Overall visual quality fine, with a few seconds of image loss at 52:50.
