Description
Neville Marriner, a prominent British conductor and recently nominated music director and principal conductor of Minnesota Orchestra, is interviewed by Metropolitan Arts radio series program director Matt Biberfeld on such issues as the evolvement of his career from a violinist in an orchestra to the founder and conductor of Academy of St Martin in the Fields chamber orchestra; his interest in baroque music and baroque composers; his thoughts on what set off the renaissance and appeal of baroque music in the 20th century; the role of conductors and orchestra musicians; his aspiration to conduct opera and the aspects of leading instrumentalists along with singers; the comparison of American orchestra musicians to those in Europe; and his plans for the Minnesota Orchestra.
