Billy Taylor interviews African American jazz pianist and composer Horace Silver during an undated broadcast. Silver discusses his career as a jazz composer, and the influences of a wide range of musical styles, including notably gospel music, African and Latin American music, and soul jazz, on his music, which he categorizes as hard bop.
