Unidentified narrator explains (in English) the concepts and principles of the Kabuki art form. Performance techniques, make-up, and costume are discussed and demonstrated, using excerpts from the following Kabuki plays: Shibaraku, starring Jitsukawa Enjaku and Ichimura Uzaemon; Musume dojoji, starring Nakamura Utaemon; Kagami Jishi, starring Nakamura Kanzaburo; Sukeroku, starring Onoe Baiko, Bando Mitsugoro, Nakamura Fukusuke, Onoe Kuroemon, and Ichikawa Danjuro.
