Abstract

In the first paper "On the trail of Nadia Boulanger", author Léonie Rosentiel describes her working relationship with famed music instructor Nadia Boulanger, first during her research for her 1977 biography of Nadia's sister Lili Boulanger: "The life and works of Lili Boulanger". The research of Lili's life and the close working relationship with Nadia eventually sparked and evolved into another biography about Nadia. In the second paper: "Jane Bathori: the performer as catalyst" (dissertation excerpt), Linda Cuneo-Laurent talks about the life and career of famed French vocalist Jane Bathori, and her role of the works of the day: Les Six, Debussy and Ravel.
