Description
Arthur Lewis, a theater director and producer, talks about Frank Loesser, a songwriter who wrote the lyrics and music to the Broadway hits "Guys and dolls" and "How to succeed in business without really trying." He speaks about Loesser's high standards; his many diverse talents; his genuine admiration for other creators' successful works (Lewis claims that R. Rodgers and I. Berlin were intensely jealous of their colleagues' achievements); collaboration among Loesser, Jule Styne (songwriter), Cy Feuer (theatre producer), and theater companies and movie studios; the musical "South Pacific" and its production; his own (Lewis's) productions of Loesser's musicals "Guys and dolls" and "How to succeed in business without really trying" in London; and recalls some episodes from the past.
