Description
Robert Emmett Dolan, a Broadway conductor, composer and arranger with a long career, analyzes and compares musical culture and traditions in various European countries to art culture in America, and discusses the economic impact on the development and success of certain genres in music, the responsibility of composers to create new harmonic approaches, artists who lead to new tendencies, the difference between guitar and piano songs that stem from the very instrument they are written for, the harmonic richness of the 30s and 40s, the importance of imagination in art, realism in art and its justification, and topics related to songwriting and songwriters.
