Description
Interview with George Faison conducted by John Gruen, as host, for broadcast on December 12, 1976 by radio station WNCN, New York on its series The sound of dance. Streaming audio file (approximately one hour and two minutes). John Gruen introduces his guest George Faison and speaks about the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's current season; George Faison speaks with Gruen about his early training and his career as a dancer and choreographer including his work Gazelle [a recording of A long time ago, by Yusef Lateef and used in Gazelle is played]; Faison's work Hobo sapiens [commercial announcements]; choreographing the musical The Wiz [a recording of music by Béla Bartók, used in Faison's work Poppy is played]; his upcoming tour with Stevie Wonder; his sources of inspiration; closing remarks [commercial announcements; news].
