Abstract

Interview conducted by Marian Horosko, as host, with Edith Stephen; for broadcast on radio station WBAI-FM, New York on its series Dance New York, in 1969. Streaming file (approximately 22 minutes). Marian Horosko, as host, introduces her guest Edith Stephen, of the Edith Stephen Theatre Dance Company; while a recording of music from Stephen's dance Homage to a hotdog is played, Stephen speaks with Horosko about this dance and its subject-matter: the seven deadly sins; her desire to communicate with the audience; certain reviews as having helped her to better understand her own work; her company; while a recording of carousel music used in Homage to a hotdog is played, Stephen explains why she chose this music; her current approach to choreographing; her concept of dance; her training; her plans for a publication to facilitate the exchange of ideas about her dances [a recording of music used by Stephen in a work is played].
