Description
A documentary about the Alivn Ailey American Dance Theater. The Ailey company is seen in rehearsal and performance, and in a lecture-demonstration on tour. Ailey talks about the company's goals. Performance excerpts include "I been buked," "Wading in the water," and "Rocka my soul" from Revelations (choreographer, Alvin Ailey), performed by Judith Jamison, Kelvin Rotardier, Loretta Abbott, and others; the duet from Rainbow 'round my shoulder (choreographer, Donald McKayle), performed by Dudley Williams and Sara Yarborough; and Cry (choreographer, Alvin Ailey), performed by Jamison.
