Sound quality is good overall in that the speakers' voices are easily intelligible. However, the recording is marred at times by "tape hiss."
Description
Interview with Sung Hae-oh conducted by Marian Horosko, as host, in New York, N.Y. (approximately 13 minutes), and interview with Leon Braun conducted by Alvin H. Reiss in Chicago, Il.,(approximately 10 minutes) for broadcast on radio station WNYC-FM, New York on its series World of Dance, on August 27, 1967. Streaming file (approximately first 13 minutes). [Music and introductory remarks by unidentified speaker.] Sung-hae Oh speaks with Marian Horosko about traditional Korean dance including the music; the types of dance she performs including court dance, religious dance, and folk dancing; her training including in ballet; the sources of her repertoire for this tour; the future of Korean traditional dance. [The interview ends at approximately 12:00 following which traditional Korean dance music is played; at approximately 12:50 Horosko introduces Alvin H. Reiss, host of the second part of the program.] Streaming file (from approximately 13:00 to 24:46). Leon Braun, the volunteer business manager of the Illinois Ballet since 1958, speaks with Alvin H. Reiss about how he came to have this position; the difficulties in finding a business manager for a dance company; the Illinois Ballet company. [The interview ends at approximately 22:20; the remaining portion of the recording consists of announcements and music.]
