Description
Streaming audio contain a master recording of a speech (part 1: 9:45-55:21) and a television interview for Channel 5 (part 2: 0:00-10:45) Joseph Papp gave on March 21, 1979, about his plans to create a new Shakespeare Company in New York that would feature both Black and Hispanic performers and their productions. Some productions Papp talked about was the BBC 1979 film of Julius Caesar (full black cast), the upcoming adaptation of Mother Courage (1980, Public Theater), and the Latin-American adaptation of Miguel Piñero's "Short eyes".
