Streaming audio file (approximately 29 minutes). [Begins with music and voice of unidentified male introducing Ginger Rogers]; Rogers speaks about the fact that her shoes were often uncomfortable; the joy she felt when dancing; dance music she especially liked; reminiscences about her childhood and her mother including the fact that her mother was one of the very first female members of the U.S. Marine Corps; the origins of her professional career; her first roles on Broadway, including the musical comedy Top speed and the lead part in the musical comedy Girl crazy; her first film role, in Young man of Manhattan; working in films in California; an anecdote about Darryl Zanuck; the film Flying down to Rio; her reasons for requesting roles that were not comic including her confidence in her dramatic acting ability; her feelings about winning an Oscar (Academy award) for her performance in the film Kitty Foyle; her love of challenges [music].
