Description
Waltz justifies and elaborates on the subjects and characters in her stories, referring to real life counterparts and instances. Much of the content relates to her "Pa Gladden" stories. She communicates her strong desire to represent local life, especially the people of the Middle West, and also the “hill people.” Letters documenting the critical reception of her stories also present. The file includes the telegram announcing her death and a letter from her husband to Gilder.
