Description
Believed to be Alice Paul (1885-1977). Taken August 26, 1970 at the Women's Strike for Equality March, down Fifth Avenue, N.Y.C., celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the passing of the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which gave American women the right to vote. Alice Paul was Founder of the National Women's Party. She is considered the inspiration for the Amendment, prohibiting United States citizens from being denied the right to vote on the basis of sex, and author. [note by photographer]Person smiling and looking toward the outside from the rolled down window of a car. Their right arm is extended outside the vehicle and they hold a sign reading ERA YES.
