Biographical/historical: Le journal de jeunesse, a periodical for children, was published between 1872-1906.
Biographical/historical: The engraving titled The debardeur's first love may have been published in The keepsake for 1847, edited by the Countess of Blessington, and/or in Godey's gallery of illustrations, a supplement to Godey's Lady's Book. The engraver W.J. Edwards may be W. Joseph Edwards.
Biographical/historical: According to the Oxford Dictionary of Music, the galop or galopade was a nineteenth-century ballroom round dance in duple time.
