Description
The circular lists contents for both parts of the work, and provides a list of subscribers (including the “Directors of the Sierra Leone Company, of which Granville Sharp and William Wilberforce were both members). Carl Bernhard Wadstrom, although born in Sweden, became a central figure in the British abolition movement. The essay became an abolitionist classic that exposed not only the cruelties of slavery but also its economic disadvantages. It was translated into German and French before the end of the century.
