Description
Excerpts from a re-creation of an ancient Greek play. Descriptive titles explain the action. Among the characters represented are Prometheus, Hephaestos, Io (in horned mask), Poseidon, Hermes, and the Oceanids. The revival of the Delphic Festival was spearheaded by Greek poet Angelos Sikelianos and his American-born wife, Eva Palmer-Sikelianos. This play was originally presented at the first of these festivals in 1927. The staging was based on Eva Sikelianos' research into Greek literature, sculpture, vase-painting, and other sources; she also designed and wove the costumes for the Oceanids.
