Sound quality is fair. The recording is marred by extraneous noise and occasional short gaps, and the interviewer's voice is often soft. However, Rudy Perez's voice is clearly intelligible.
Description
Recording made from the audio portion of the outtakes from the film, Festival of the dance (see Festival of the dance, cataloged as: *MGZIC 7-98.) recorded between 1972-1973. This section consists of an interview with Rudy Perez, in his studio at Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut. Streaming file (approximately 21 minutes). [Begins abruptly.] Rudy Perez speaks about how he started dancing and choreographing; supporting himself with various non-dance jobs; trying to define modern dance; cycles in modern dance ideas and trends; reasons people choose dance as a career; his own work including the impetus to be current; his reaction to reviews of his work, in particular, a bad review by Clive Barnes; the many dance-related fields, for example dance therapy [ends abruptly].
