Physical Description
Etchings
Extent: 29 prints : etching, hand-colored ; 28 x 19 cm. or smaller.
Each leaf is stamped on the verso: Ex libris Cia Fornaroli.
Description
Leaves from two or more unidentified books, probably dating from the nineteenth century. Most depict a single figure standing on a small patch of ground. Thirteen are captioned in French, and depict historical and religious figures, including some named individuals. Sixteen are captioned in Italian, with some stylistic differences among them: that is, some include background objects or furnishings, and a single example captioned "Majo" is printed on a tinted ground, with a landscape behind the figure. A few prints are signed or initialed; among the legible signatures are H. Cobb, Doms et Mors, E. Duverger, H. Estaquier, Markaert, At. [?] Pannemaker, Philippin, Lacoste et fils, and Vermorcken.
