Content: Decree issued by the King of Portugal following the case of a former slave woman who successfuly sued the Brazilian courts for her freedom. The decree states that this case is not to be used to establish precedent for similar cases. Specific information regarding the legal grounds on which the woman won her freedom is not given in the decree.
