Description
Documentary on a week of African dance and music presented by Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival. Liz Thompson, the director of Jacob's Pillow, and Spider Kedelsky, curator of the event, discuss the decision to highlight African dance and music, and some of the activities planned, including performances, classes, and lectures. Representatives of various groups describe their material, which is seen in excerpts taped onstage or outdoors at Jacob's Pillow. A brief historical section, focusing on Ted Shawn and the founding of Jacob's Pillow, includes interviews with Thompson and modern dancer Pearl Primus.
