Interview with Ted Shawn conducted by Marian Horosko, as host, and interview with Saul Goodman conducted by Alvin H. Reiss, as host, for broadcast on radio station WNCN-FM, New York on its series Profiles, in 1966. Streaming file (first approximately 13:30 minutes). Marian Horosko introduces her guest Ted Shawn; Shawn speaks about Jacob's Pillow and the programs planned for the upcoming season of the annual Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival; his work throughout the year for Jacob's Pillow; government funding of the arts. Streaming file (from approximately 13:45 minutes to 22 minutes). Alvin H. Reiss, as host, speaks about Brief Biographies, the monthly biographic sketches in Dance Magazine, and introduces Saul Goodman, their author; Goldman speaks about how the sketches originated, with Lydia Joelle; how the dancers profiled are chosen; the process including an interview with the dancer to be profiled; the optimism of most dancers; the photographs, taken by Zachary Freyman, for each of the articles in the series; Dancers you should know (1964), the book based on the series.
