Content: Contains six figures for each opera, arranged in two rows. The figures are captioned with their role names. For Oberon, they are: Ulmansor [Almanzor], Rezia [Reiza], Hüon, Roschana, Fatime, Oberon. For Die Stumme von Portici, they are: Masaniello, Fenella, Alfonso, Elvira, Lorenzo, Pietro.
Acquisition: Gift; Lillian Moore.
Biographical/historical: Carl Maria von Weber's opera Oberon was first presented at Covent Garden, London, in 1826, and was soon produced abroad. This print probably depicts costumes from a production in a German-speaking country.
Biographical/historical: Daniel Auber's opera La muette de Portici (appearing here under its German title, Die Stumme von Portici) was first presented at the Paris Opéra in 1828. This print probably depicts costumes from a production in a German-speaking country.
