Clark of New York City, third mate; Vincent Davis [white] chief engineer; and looking over Mr. Davis's shoulder is Charles Harris of Pawtucket, R. I., first assistant engineer; Captain Adrian Richardson of New York City, skipper of the SS Frederick Douglass; and Ferdinand Smith, Secretary of the National Maritime Union, who presented Captain Richardson with the scroll holding in his right hand."
