Content: Written on border: "Aug. 31, 1833" Printed on border: "The flight of the condor is loftier than that of any other bird; it sometimes is found nearly four miles above the level of the sea; and frequents, in great numbers, the immense chain of the Andes, on the limits of perpetual snow. It is more famous for its ferocity and strength than for its great size, its usual length from tip to tip of the wing, when expanded, being about nine feet; and the largest specimen we have any authentic account of did not exceed fourteen feet." Includes additional text.
