The sound quality is fair. The volume of Rebekah Harkness' voice is low. However, her words are easily intelligible.
Description
Walter Terry introduces Rebekah Harkness, president of the Rebekah Harkness Foundation, noting her recent founding of a ballet company, the Harkness Ballet, and of a school, Harkness House for Ballet Arts (New York, N.Y.), as well as her background as a composer and a patron of the arts. Rebekah West Harkness speaks with Terry about her development as a composer and her musical studies; an anecdote about her dancing in public and her father; her varied activities in support of the art of ballet; her goals in founding the Harkness Ballet Company and Harkness House; the physical facilities, faculty, curriculum and trainee program at Harkness House; and her own composition, Macumba suite, to which Alvin Ailey is choreographing a ballet of the same title for the Harkness Ballet. [The recording ends with Terry's stating that he is about to air an excerpt from the music Macumba suite.]
