Description
Walter Terry introduces Ivan Nagy, a soloist with the National Ballet, Washington D.C. Ivan Nagy speaks about his training at the ballet school of the Hungarian State Opera House [Magyar Állami Operaház] including the curriculum; beginning his professional performing career in Budapest immediately upon graduating; the performing season in Budapest; some of his roles in the United States; his interest in modern dance; his upcoming role debut as Albrecht in Giselle, in Hungary; his thoughts on teaching including his own experience teaching in the United States; (very briefly) the use of music by modern Hungarian composers Béla Bartók and Zoltan Kodaly in new ballets; the popularity of the ballet in Hungary and its presence in film and on television. [Closing remarks by unidentified speaker and music.]
